A Mediterranean-Revival Beach Lodge, Santa Monica Edition

Meet Palihouse, sister property to the Palihotel on Melrose Avenue. Located in a historic Moorish-style Mediterranean-revival building, the 36-room hotel is all about old-world urban luxury with a hint of salt air.

Owned by hotelier and design devotee Avi Brosh, this latest Paligroup property is tucked into a residential neighborhood in Santa Monica three blocks from the beach (and within walking distance of the Santa Monica Third Street Promenade and Farmer's Market). When the 1927 structure—formerly a residential hotel—came on the market, Brosh jumped at the opportunity to restore it as a boutique hotel ready to welcome both short- and long-term guests. (If you're in town filming a movie, you can move into one of the suites with full kitchens.) Have a look around—you might want to pack a smoking jacket along with your surfboard.
